Skin Peels

The Cosmetic Refinement Clinic is the No. 1 clinic in Geelong, Victoria for Chemical Peels.

15 to 20 years ago, chemical peels were designed to encourage peeling of the skin at a superficial, medium, and deep level. The concept of chemical peels was to achieve results through instigating a wound-healing response similar to what you would see with a burn to the skin. This is commonly referred to as the “Samantha from Sex and the City look” when she underwent a chemical peel for its rejuvenation benefits.

CRC’s unique approach to intensive skin treatments

Here at CRC we have taken a more modern and medical approach to what were formerly called chemical peels. These intensive skin treatments are personalised and tailored to address your skin concerns, as well as improving the overall health and integrity of your skin. They are gentler than the old chemical peels but just as effective. All the intensive treatments we use in the clinic are of a medical grade, which allows them to penetrate deep into the skin, providing optimal results for you.

Combination therapies like galvanic therapy, epidermal blading and laser and light-based therapies are frequently used within these treatments to further increase the penetration into the skin and target both the superficial and deep layers of your skin. Superficially Treatments remove the outermost layers of dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Whilst, Deep Treatments allow us to stimulate collagen and elastin production, resulting in an improvement in your overall skin health as well as providing you a revitalised look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What intensive skin treatments (modified Chemical Peels) do we offer at CRC?

Here at CRC we have numerous different types of intensive skin treatments at all different variances to choose from. These range from;

  • AHA (Alpha-Hydroxy- Acid) intensive treatments that can be made from Lactic Acid;
  • Medium Depth Pigmentation Peel;
  • BHA (Beta-Hydroxy- Acid) intensive treatments such as Salicylic Acid;
  • Modified Jessner intensive treatment. The modified Jessner treatment consists of Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Resorcinol.

What can they treat?

By modifying chemical peels and making them less harsh our intensive skin treatments are able to treat a wide range of skin concerns. Some of these treatments are specifically designed to be very gentle on the skin and calm inflamed and irritated skins. These include common conditions such as:

Acne

They can aid in the reduction in Acne when used in conjunction with a prescribed skin care routine. Some studies have shown that they can lessen Acne by up to 45-50% over several successive treatments.

Sun damaged and ageing skin

Intensive treatments improve the sun damaged skin through:

  • Providing a mild exfoliation action to the surface layers of your skin;
  • Improving the overall barrier function of the skin;
  • Increasing the hydration levels of the skin due to decreasing the water loss, caused by accumulated sun exposure; and
  • Regulating the production of collagen and elastin.

Skin sensitivity and dehydration

Intensive treatments help to improve the integrity of patients that suffer from sensitive and dehydrated skin. This is achieved by promoting the growth of new skin cells, which leads to a strengthening in the skin’s barrier, whilst also allowing for greater skin hydration.

Do these intensive skin treatments hurt like the old Chemical Peels?

The older techniques, where chemical peels were designed to promote peeling, were quite painful due to the “stripping of your skin” leaving your skin feeling raw and with a degree of oozing. It’s because of this that chemical peels had a negative stigma about them. These days, with a more modern approach, an intensive skin treatment is much more gentle. It can feel like mild sunburn with minimal discomfort and no downtime.

They are the perfect treatment for individuals with a busy lifestyle.

How does the recovery from intensive skin treatments differ from the old Chemical Peels?

There really is no significant downtime with these treatments, that’s why they are the perfect treatment for those who lead busy lives. You can even reapply makeup post treatment if you are needing to get back to work.

For more robust skins that can take a stronger treatment, you may get some superficial dryness and flaking of your skin. This tends to only last a couple of days.

How many treatments do I need before I see results?

Regardless of the skin condition, multiple treatments are required to see optimal results. However, you may begin to see changes and results after as little as 2-3 treatments. Here at CRC we recommend monthly treatments to not only address any underlying skin concerns but also to maintain the overall health and integrity of your skin.

How much do Chemical Peels Cost?

We offer 5 different levels of peels at the clinic based on their peeling depth from superficial to deep. Each level is priced differently.

Level 1: $99.00

Level 2: $137.00

Level 3: $157.00

Customer Testimonial

“I have been having peels at The Cosmetic Refinement Clinic for a number of years. In this time I have had no side effects as a result of the procedures. I now find my skin is so much better than before. The peel has helped to reduce my wrinkles and also corrected my skin tones especially the dark spots that I had previously that I now no longer have to wear heavy makeup to cover them. My skin is now so much smoother and brighter. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this procedure to anyone. It is so nice to receive compliments from others on how good my skin now looks.” – Wendy
